The Bullet 500, one of Royal Enfield’s most iconic models has finally got ABS. The bike now sports dual-channel ABS that is similar to that of other models of Royal Enfield. The inclusion of ABS has resulted in the price hike of 14,000 Indian Currency over its non-ABS variant.
Apart from the safety feature, the bike’s mechanicals remains the same. It continues to be powered by a 499cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine churns out a maximum power of 27.5PS and 41.3Nm of torque. The transmission duty is handled by a 5-speed gearbox. Similarly, the bike is available in the same color schemes as earlier-Black and Forest Green.
To comply with the new safety norms that come will come into force from 1 April 2019, Royal Enfield has updated its almost all bikes with ABS. The only lineups of RE to have not received the update yet are the Bullet 350, 350ES and the standard color variants of the Classic 350.
The Bullet 500 ABS is priced at INR 1,86,961 and bookings for the bike are opened. The non-ABS variant of the Bullet 500 will continue to be sold till stocks last. Deliveries for the motorbike are will commence from February 2019.
